TEHRAN, March 10 (Alliance News): Iran, Russia, and China will conduct joint naval exercises off the Iranian coast this week to enhance military cooperation and regional security, Iranian media reported on Sunday.
The drills will begin on Tuesday in Chabahar, a key Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman, and will involve warships and support vessels from the three nations, including Iran’s navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Russia’s Pacific Fleet will send two corvettes and a tanker, while China will deploy a destroyer and a supply ship, according to their respective defense ministries. The exercises will focus on ship rescue operations, anti-piracy drills, and live-fire exercises at sea.
In addition to the main participants, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Iraq, the UAE, and Sri Lanka will attend as observers.
Iran has previously conducted similar military drills, most recently in February, to enhance defense capabilities against potential threats.
