Russia Offers to Mediate Iran-US Nuclear Dispute Amid Escalating Conflict with Israel

MOSCOW, Jun 18 (Alliance News): The Russian government has reaffirmed its willingness to mediate between Iran and the United States over the stalled nuclear agreement and the rapidly escalating military conflict involving Israel.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow’s longstanding offer to store Iran’s enriched uranium remains valid, even amid the ongoing hostilities. “This proposal still exists and has not lost its relevance despite the worsening situation,” Peskov said.

He acknowledged that the geopolitical environment has become “more complicated,” but stressed that diplomatic engagement remains essential. “We are ready to take all possible steps to address the root causes of the crisis. However, military actions will not resolve this conflict,” he added.

Russia has historically maintained close relations with both Tehran and Washington in different capacities and has previously hosted indirect negotiations aimed at reviving the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal.

The statement comes as Israel continues its military campaign against Iran, which has retaliated with missile strikes in response to Israeli attacks on its top military and nuclear officials.

The situation has triggered concerns globally, with calls from major powers — including China and France — urging restraint and a return to the negotiating table.

Moscow’s renewed offer signals Russia’s intention to reassert its diplomatic relevance in the region and avoid further destabilization that could impact global energy supplies and security.
