Israel, Iran Trade Airstrikes Amid Escalating Conflict

TEHRAN, June 23 (Alliance News): Tensions between Iran and Israel have reached new heights as both sides exchanged retaliatory strikes in the early hours of Monday.

Israel claimed to have destroyed 15 Iranian aircraft in coordinated airstrikes on multiple airports across Iran, while Iran responded by firing missiles into Israeli territory and shooting down an Israeli drone.

According to Israeli military sources, the strikes targeted at least six Iranian airports in the western, eastern, and central regions of the country.

The attacks reportedly damaged underground bunkers, runways, and several aircraft, including F-14s, F-5s, AH-1 helicopters, and a refueling plane.

The Israeli Air Force stated that these operations significantly hampered Iran’s air force capability.

Iran’s Tasnim News Agency confirmed that 10 personnel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were martyred in an airstrike on Yazd.

In retaliation, Iran launched missiles towards Israel, triggering air raid sirens in multiple cities including Nahariya, Gesher Hazio, Haila, Me’una, and Mi’iliyya.

The Israeli military confirmed that one missile struck a target without activating the alert system, later verifying that it originated from Iran.

Amid the exchange, Iran’s air defense systems were activated in several cities, including Tehran and Karaj—the latter being a hub for uranium enrichment centrifuge production.

Iranian forces also downed an Israeli Hermes 900 drone in Lorestan province, releasing video footage of the debris. The drone was shot down in Khorramabad by IRGC units.

The Israeli Defense Forces acknowledged the drone’s loss but claimed that several Iranian missiles had been successfully intercepted.

Meanwhile, Israeli fighter jets reportedly attacked military infrastructure in the Parchin area, southeast of Tehran—believed to be associated with Iran’s defense and missile development programs.

Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera reported that Israel deployed about 20 fighter jets for the assault, claiming precise intelligence guided the mission.

The strikes included remote-controlled drone attacks aimed at weakening Iran’s air capabilities.

Iranian news outlets also confirmed explosions in several regions, while Noor News reported that Israeli aircraft had been seen over Parchin during the attack.

As both nations ramp up military action, global powers have raised alarms over the rapidly deteriorating situation, with fears of a full-scale regional conflict mounting.
