Israel Confirms Conditional Agreement to Ceasefire Proposal Brokered by Trump

Tel Aviv, Jun 24 (Alliance News): After initial silence, Israel has formally confirmed its agreement to the ceasefire proposal brokered by former U.S. President Donald Trump, but with a clear warning that any violation by Iran will be met with a decisive response.

In a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel had accepted the U.S.-mediated ceasefire terms in principle.

However, he added that the Israeli government remains on high alert and reserves the right to defend itself if provoked.

“Israel has agreed to President Trump’s ceasefire proposal with Iran,” the statement read. “But we will respond forcefully and without hesitation to any violation of the agreement.

Our national security remains our top priority, and any aggression will be met with the full strength of the Israel Defense Forces.”

This comes hours after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed a willingness to halt further military action if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression.”

While Iranian officials denied a formal ceasefire agreement had been signed, they stated that military operations had concluded by 4 a.m. Tehran time and would not resume if Israel refrained from further attacks.

The announcement from Israel adds clarity to the ceasefire plan outlined by Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform.

The former president had declared a phased 24-hour ceasefire process, with Iran halting hostilities first and Israel following 12 hours later, leading to a complete cessation of the 12-day war within a day.

Although the situation on the ground remains fragile, the statements from both Tehran and Tel Aviv suggest that diplomatic backchannels, particularly through Qatar, have succeeded in reducing tensions — at least for now.
