SYRACUSE, Jul 14 (Alliance News) : Another humanitarian aid ship, Hindalah, has set sail from the Italian port city of Syracuse, aiming to deliver vital supplies to Gaza and raise global awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
Organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the mission includes around 15 international volunteers aboard the ship carrying humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, medical equipment, and items for children.
The initiative seeks to challenge the Israeli blockade on Gaza and provide direct support to civilians suffering from the prolonged conflict.
Before departure, the ship was seen off by a crowd waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “Free Palestine.”
The Hindalah will travel approximately 1,800 kilometers across the Mediterranean, making a brief stop in the Italian coastal city of Gallipoli, where two members of the French political party “France Unbound” will join the mission.
The mission follows a similar attempt by the vessel Madeleine, which was intercepted by Israeli forces six weeks ago. Among those deported on that mission was environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
French MP Gabriel Kathala, speaking before the departure, said: “This mission is for the children of Gaza, to break the current silence. If we are intercepted, it would be another violation of international law by Israel.”
According to United Nations estimates, over 57,000 Palestinians—mostly civilians—have lost their lives in the ongoing war in Gaza, making the need for humanitarian aid increasingly urgent.
