MINSK, Jul 15 (Alliance News): Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov participated in a high-level meeting of foreign ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
According to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the current status and future direction of the SCO, particularly in light of the upcoming 2026 SCO Heads of State Summit scheduled to be held in Tianjin.
President Xi briefed the gathered foreign ministers on China’s priorities as the current chair of the SCO. He also offered a comprehensive assessment of the evolving international landscape and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and regional stability under the SCO framework.
The meeting underlined the importance of strengthening ties among SCO member countries and enhancing coordination in response to global geopolitical challenges. Minister Ryzhenkov’s participation reflects Belarus’s growing engagement with the SCO following its recent full membership.
