TIANJIN, Sep 1 (Alliance News): Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh in Tianjin on Sunday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and vowed to expand bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors.
Xi extended congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and emphasized that both countries should actively promote collaboration in areas such as connectivity, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence to accelerate modernization.
He also underlined the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation and safeguarding the common interests of the Global South.
Prime Minister Trinh reaffirmed that developing ties with China is a strategic choice and a top priority of Vietnam’s foreign policy.
He expressed Vietnam’s willingness to deepen strategic coordination, expand trade and investment, and advance modernization efforts jointly with China, noting that such cooperation benefits not only the two countries but also contributes to regional and global peace and stability.
He further acknowledged the “Three Global Initiatives” proposed by Xi Jinping, saying they provide a framework for China to address common challenges and play a leading role in shaping global governance.
