Shanghai, Aug 5 (Alliance News): Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office and the UAE Media Council, visited Huawei’s Research and Development Centre in Shanghai on Monday.
The visit was part of the preparatory engagements leading up to the upcoming “BRIDGE 2025” Summit, the world’s largest platform uniting media, cultural, and creative content stakeholders, set to be held in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, 2025.
Accompanied by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director-General of the UAE National Media Office, the delegation’s visit reflected the UAE’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies into media, under a human-centric approach.
The engagement with Huawei further aimed to foster collaboration in the fields of AI, big data, digital broadcasting, 5G, and intelligent media applications tailored for the Arabic language.
The UAE delegation was received by top Huawei executives, including Lv Yang Ming, President of the Huawei Cloud Media Service Product Department; Lu Zhen Yu, Huawei Cloud Media Product Expert; Wharton Huang, Vice President of Government & Enterprise for Huawei Cloud UAE; and Lewis Tan, Head of Strategy and Marketing for Huawei Cloud UAE.
In a series of high-level meetings with Huawei’s leadership, Abdulla Al Hamed emphasized the strategic importance of creating bridges between UAE media institutions and global tech developers.
“Our objective is to promote knowledge exchange, encourage investment in digital media solutions, and strengthen the integration of Arabic-supportive AI technologies,” he said.
Discussions focused on ways to implement advanced AI media tools in Arabic content production, develop innovative approaches to digital learning and broadcasting, and enhance interactive platform capabilities.
Both sides explored future partnerships that can empower digital transformation in the media space while preserving linguistic and cultural identities.
Al Hamed also visited the Huawei Lianqiu Lake R&D Centre, a state-of-the-art facility showcasing cutting-edge advancements in smart media and education technologies.
The tour provided a firsthand view of how Huawei is applying AI and big data in real-time broadcast systems, intelligent education models, and cloud-based media frameworks.
He stressed that the BRIDGE 2025 Summit in Abu Dhabi is more than a conventional media event—it will be a strategic incubator for responsible international collaboration.
“The summit will serve as an open laboratory where developers, thought leaders, and cultural influencers can co-create solutions that redefine the role of media in our societies,” he noted.
Al Hamed further underscored that BRIDGE 2025 will promote media as a force for innovation and a tool for sustainable development.
“Our intention is to ensure that the media industry evolves in tandem with global technological shifts, while remaining inclusive, ethical, and centered around human values,” he added.
Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi remarked that the collaboration with Huawei marks a key step in the UAE’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional and global hub for smart media. “By engaging with global tech leaders, we aim to foster meaningful dialogue, ensure skills transfer, and design digital ecosystems that support the aspirations of tomorrow’s media professionals,” he said.
Huawei officials expressed keen interest in deepening ties with the UAE’s media sector, especially in supporting digital inclusion, AI adoption in Arabic content creation, and infrastructure development for cloud broadcasting solutions.
The Shanghai visit is one in a series of global preparatory engagements planned ahead of BRIDGE 2025. The summit is expected to bring together high-level participants from across the media, technology, economic, and cultural spheres.
Its agenda will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, product showcases, and innovation labs that aim to define a future-ready, globally connected media landscape.
Organizers anticipate the summit will act as a launchpad for groundbreaking public-private partnerships and multinational initiatives.
Its outcomes are expected to impact digital media policies, educational media reforms, content diversity strategies, and the ethical governance of AI in newsrooms and creative industries.
BRIDGE 2025 will also focus on emerging content ecosystems, sustainable media financing, the future of public service broadcasting, and the role of youth in shaping digital storytelling.
“By aligning media with innovation and sustainability, we want to shift global narratives towards dialogue, empathy, and shared prosperity,” said Al Hamed.
As preparations continue, the UAE remains committed to creating a future media ecosystem that blends the power of technology with the richness of culture and the wisdom of collaboration.
