BEIJING, Jun 19 (Alliance News): Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Thursday to discuss the escalating conflict in the Middle East, particularly in light of Israel’s recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
President Putin expressed grave concern over the Israeli attacks, calling them “extremely dangerous” and warning that further escalation is not in the interest of either side.
He emphasized that the Iranian nuclear issue must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than military aggression.
Putin affirmed Russia’s readiness to maintain close communication with China and to make joint efforts to reduce tensions and safeguard regional peace.
In response, President Xi Jinping outlined China’s firm stance and proposed a four-point plan to defuse the crisis.
First, Xi called for an immediate ceasefire, particularly urging Israel to halt military operations to prevent the situation from spiraling further out of control.
Second, he stressed that protecting civilians must remain a top priority and urged all parties to comply with international humanitarian law and facilitate the safe evacuation of foreign nationals.
Third, Xi emphasized that dialogue and consultation remain the only viable path toward long-term peace and stability in the region.
Lastly, he underscored the importance of multilateral efforts, urging the United Nations Security Council to play a more proactive role in conflict resolution.
President Xi reiterated that China will intensify communication with all concerned parties, continue to advocate for justice, and contribute actively to restoring peace in the Middle East.
