BEIJING, Sep 3 (Alliance News): China has launched its first-ever national science popularization month, opening a 30-day nationwide program designed to bring science closer to the public through exhibitions, activities, and interactive events.
The month-long initiative, organized by the China Association for Science and Technology, aims to showcase the country’s scientific innovation, celebrate the spirit and legacy of its scientists, and promote science as an accessible part of daily life.
Opening ceremonies were held at the National Communication Center for Science and Technology and the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing. More than a hundred exhibitions and activities are scheduled throughout September.
One highlight is a special exhibition on Chinese scientists who contributed during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in both the War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The campaign follows the implementation of China’s revised Science and Technology Popularization Law, which came into effect on December 25, 2024, officially designating September as national science popularization month.
Officials said the initiative reflects China’s push to enhance public scientific literacy, inspire young innovators, and encourage greater engagement with research and technology.
