ASTANA, July 14 (Alliance News):East Kazakhstan Governor Nurymbet Saktaganov met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two regions.
The meeting focused on working together in agriculture, tourism, and the energy sector. Officials shared plans to resume train services this year from Ust Kamenogorsk to major Uzbek cities including Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. Direct flights between Ust Kamenogorsk and Uzbekistan have also been launched.
Both sides also talked about the supply of nuclear fuel for Uzbekistan’s upcoming nuclear power plant and agreed to share knowledge on handling industrial waste.
Governor Saktaganov said that new joint projects in these areas would take the partnership between East Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to a stronger and more strategic level.
Earlier, the two countries also agreed to increase cooperation in geology and mineral resources.
