CAIRO, April 8(Alliance News): France, Egypt, and Jordan have jointly declared that Hamas must be entirely excluded from any future governance of Gaza, supporting the transfer of authority to the Palestinian Authority (PA) following the ongoing conflict.
At a joint press conference in Cairo, French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Jordan’s King Abdullah II emphasized that the PA should be entrusted with full responsibilities for governance, security, law, and justice across Gaza, the West Bank, and other Palestinian territories.
Macron made it clear that Hamas should not have “any role in the government of Gaza” and must “pose no threat to Israel.” The three leaders aligned on the principle that Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007, must be sidelined from the political and administrative future of the territory.
This joint position comes amid ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza, with Israel vowing to dismantle Hamas completely. Although Hamas has recently signaled a willingness to allow technocrats to handle administration, it has not agreed to disarm or exit the political arena.
The leaders also rejected any proposed displacement of Palestinians, an idea reportedly circulating among some US and Israeli officials. Macron voiced his support for the Arab League’s reconstruction plan for Gaza, emphasizing the need for international coordination in post-war rebuilding efforts.
Calling for an “immediate restoration of the ceasefire,” the trio warned that continued fighting would only deepen the humanitarian crisis. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since March 18.
