Team Liquid Makes History as Esports World Cup Week 5 Concludes in Riyadh

RIYADH, Aug 12 (Alliance News): The fifth week of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 concluded in Riyadh with record-breaking achievements, new champions, and an electric atmosphere that drew exceptional crowds.

Three new champions emerged from a week of dramatic finals showcasing the skill, strategy, and professionalism of top-tier players and clubs from around the globe.

Team Liquid achieved an unprecedented milestone, becoming the first club to win three titles in a single edition of the EWC after clinching the EA SPORTS FC 25 championship. Dutch star Manuel Bachoore (ManuBachoore) sealed the victory with a 5-3 win over France’s Brice Mason (Brice) of Team Vitality, marking his second world title. The result pushed Team Liquid to the top of the Club Championship standings with 4,200 points, widening the gap over rivals.

In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Team Secret captured their first-ever championship with a decisive 3-0 win over G2 Esports in an all-European final. Their victory capped a remarkable journey from a third-place continental ranking to world champions.

Saudi Arabia’s Twisted Minds made history in Call of Duty: Warzone, securing their first title after a tense, ten-match battle against Virtus.pro, triumphing by a narrow margin and demonstrating exceptional teamwork.

The week also featured special events, including a friendly EA SPORTS FC 25 match between football icons Ronaldo and Kaka at stc Arena, merging traditional football culture with the rising world of esports.

Adding to the excitement, the EWC Foundation confirmed that acclaimed Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, founder of Kojima Productions, will attend the tournament and the New Global Sports Conference.
