European Leaders to Present Ukraine Peace Plan to US Amid Rising Tensions

LONDON, March 3 (Alliance News): British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that European leaders have agreed to draft a Ukraine peace plan to present to the United States, aiming to secure security guarantees that Kyiv considers essential to deter Russia.

The agreement came during a summit in London, held just days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tense exchange with former US President Donald Trump in Washington.

European leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine, pledging greater support and increased defense spending to demonstrate Europe’s capability to defend itself.

Starmer, alongside Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasized the urgency of action, stating that a coalition of willing nations, including the UK, France, and Ukraine, would develop a comprehensive peace proposal.

Although details remain undisclosed, Macron hinted that the plan could include a one-month ceasefire covering air and sea attacks while ground combat continues.

Following the meeting, Zelensky expressed confidence in Europe’s unwavering support, insisting that Ukraine would not cede any territory to Russia in negotiations.

Meanwhile, European leaders are pushing to enhance military capabilities, seeking to reassure the US that Europe can uphold security commitments while ensuring Washington’s involvement in any peacekeeping framework.
