TEL AVIV, Feb 11 (Alliance News): Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement and has put the army on high alert.
Responding to Hamas’s allegations that Israel breached the ceasefire and hindered the release of hostages, Katz stated that he has instructed the military to remain vigilant in Gaza and ensure the protection of Israeli settlements.
He described Hamas’s decision to halt the release of hostages as a direct violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier, Abu Ubaida, the spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that hostage releases would be stopped, citing Israel’s repeated breaches of the agreement.
Abu Ubaida alleged that over the past three weeks, Israel delayed the return of displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza, carried out bombings, and failed to deliver humanitarian aid as scheduled, despite Hamas fully complying with the agreement.
He declared that the planned release of Israeli hostages on February 15 has been postponed indefinitely and will not proceed until Israel fulfills the agreed-upon terms and compensates for incurred losses.
