Russia Sets Strict Conditions for Ending Ukraine War

MOSCOW, Feb 11 (Alliance News): Russia has reiterated that all of President Vladimir Putin’s conditions must be fully met before the war in Ukraine can end, signaling a tough stance towards U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the conflict.

Russia’s Foreign Minister emphasized that while Moscow is open to talks with Ukraine, meaningful progress can only be achieved if the “fundamental reasons” behind the war are addressed.

Trump, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to end the war swiftly, said on Sunday that he believed he was making progress, though he has not provided specific details on his approach.

Asked if he had spoken to Putin since taking office on January 20, Trump responded ambiguously, saying, “I’ve had it. Let’s just say I’ve had it.”

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov reaffirmed Moscow’s position, stating that a political solution is only possible through the full implementation of Putin’s demands as outlined in his June 14 speech to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

These demands include Ukraine renouncing its NATO ambitions and withdrawing its forces from four regions claimed and largely controlled by Russia.

Ryabkov warned that the U.S., Britain, and other Western nations must accept these terms for a resolution to be reached.
