WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Alliance News): US President Donald Trump has announced plans to provide India with billions of dollars in military equipment, including the advanced F-35 fighter jets, reinforcing strategic ties between the two nations.
Speaking at a joint press conference following his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Trump recalled the Mumbai attacks and reaffirmed America’s commitment to countering extremism alongside India.
He also emphasized the need for balanced trade relations, stating that the US will impose the same tariffs on India as it does on American goods.
Trump further expressed his stance on NATO, arguing that Ukraine should not have been considered for membership, as he believes this move contributed to the ongoing war.
He also highlighted the potential role of China in facilitating peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting that improved US-China relations could help resolve the crisis.
Prime Minister Modi, in response, reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with the US, aiming to double trade volume between the two nations.
He invited American universities to establish campuses in India and extended an invitation for Trump to visit.
Modi also announced plans to open a new Indian embassy in Los Angeles, underscoring India’s growing diplomatic footprint in the United States.
