KYIV, Feb 21 (Alliance News): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused US President Donald Trump of being trapped in a Russian “disinformation” bubble after Trump claimed that Zelensky’s approval rating had fallen to just 4%. Zelensky dismissed the figure as Russian propaganda and cited a recent poll showing that 57% of Ukrainians still trust him.
Speaking in Kyiv, Zelensky criticized Washington for engaging in direct talks with Moscow, saying the US had helped Russian President Vladimir Putin break out of his international isolation. He expressed concerns over the US-Russia rapprochement, warning that it had no positive impact on Ukraine.
Trump’s remarks came after US and Russian diplomats met in Saudi Arabia to discuss resetting relations and potential ways to end the Ukraine conflict.
While Trump has pushed for Ukraine to hold elections despite martial law, Zelensky argued that Kyiv needs security guarantees from the West before considering any ceasefire in 2025.
