Windsor Castle Hosts Historic Open Iftar for the First Time

LONDON, March 4 (Alliance News): In a historic first, Windsor Castle’s State Apartments hosted an open iftar, marking the first such event in the castle’s 1,000-year history.

The Ramadan Tent Project, in collaboration with the Royal Collection Trust, organized the gathering in St George’s Hall, a venue traditionally reserved for state banquets.

Over 360 guests from diverse backgrounds attended the event, aimed at fostering community and cultural exchange.

Omar Salha, Founder and CEO of the Ramadan Tent Project, called the moment “surreal and poignant,” emphasizing its significance in promoting inclusivity and belonging.

Simon Maples, Visitor Operations Director at the Royal Collection Trust, highlighted the event’s role in welcoming people of all faiths to the historic castle, aligning with the Trust’s mission to make royal heritage accessible to all.

The open iftar initiative has brought together over a million people across the UK, with this latest event marking a milestone in the project’s outreach efforts.
