Moscow, March 11 (Alliance News): Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack on Moscow on Tuesday, with at least 91 drones targeting the Russian capital, killing one person and injuring three, according to Russian officials.
The assault caused fires, forced evacuations, and led to flight suspensions at major airports.
Russia’s defense ministry claimed that a total of 337 Ukrainian drones were intercepted, including 126 over the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have been retreating.
The attacks coincided with Ukrainian officials’ peace talks with the U.S. in Saudi Arabia and an ongoing Russian offensive in Kursk.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that air defenses repelled the attack, while Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported casualties and damage, including a wrecked apartment in the Ramenskoye district, southeast of the Kremlin.
Russia has developed advanced electronic defenses against drones, but Ukraine continues to strike deep into Russian territory, targeting oil refineries and military infrastructure. Meanwhile, both nations increasingly rely on drones in their ongoing war, which has blended traditional trench warfare with modern drone innovations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Ukraine’s attacks on civilian infrastructure as “terrorism,” vowing a response. Despite the war, Moscow remains economically strong, boosted by record defense spending.
