NEW DELHI, June 16 (Alliance News): An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight bound for New Delhi was forced to return to Hong Kong on Monday after the pilot detected a possible technical issue mid-air, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Flight AI315, which departed from Hong Kong at 12:16pm, turned back and landed safely just over an hour later. The aircraft is now undergoing technical inspections.
This incident comes just days after another Air India Boeing 787-8 flight en route to London crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after take-off, killing 241 of the 242 people on board. That tragedy has heightened global scrutiny on the Dreamliner model and Air India’s safety protocols.
The latest flight precaution is being taken seriously, though no immediate safety threat was reported onboard. Both Boeing and Air India have yet to issue an official statement regarding the Hong Kong-New Delhi flight.
Tracking data from Flightradar24 confirmed the aircraft’s turnaround and early landing in Hong Kong.
