BEIJING, Jan 30 (Alliance News): Chinese President Xi Jinping and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday agreed to deepen a long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership between their countries during high-level talks in Beijing.
President Xi emphasized that in an era of growing global uncertainty, both nations — as permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies — should enhance dialogue and cooperation to maintain global peace and stability, promote economic growth, and improve living standards.
He called for mutual respect, constructive management of differences, and turning the potential for collaboration into tangible benefits for both countries and the wider international community.
Xi also reiterated China’s commitment to peaceful development, noting that the country had never initiated a war or occupied foreign territory.
Prime Minister Starmer highlighted the importance of strengthening UK-China relations to support economic growth, signaling a reset after years of strained ties.
He described China as a vital global player and emphasized the need for cooperation alongside open dialogue on areas of disagreement.
The discussions underscored a shared intent to foster constructive engagement and reinforce strategic communication between Beijing and London, aiming for sustainable bilateral and global benefits.
