UAE Calls for Iran’s Full Compliance With Ceasefire, Urges Stability in Gulf Region

ABU DHABI, April 10 (Alliance News): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said it is closely monitoring the two-week ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump between the United States and Iran, and has called for full clarity on its terms to ensure complete compliance and an immediate end to hostilities.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE stressed the need for Iran to halt all military activities and ensure the unconditional reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for global energy supplies and international trade.

The ministry alleged that recent Iranian attacks over the past 40 days targeted infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian areas, resulting in significant casualties and damage. It said more than 2,800 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones were used in the attacks, calling for Iran to be held accountable for reparations.

The UAE also urged a broader and long-term strategy to address regional security concerns, including Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, drone capabilities, and what it described as affiliated proxy groups. It further called for an end to threats against maritime navigation and security in the Gulf.

Reaffirming its position, the UAE said it is not a party to the conflict and has consistently pursued diplomatic efforts through bilateral channels and the Gulf Cooperation Council to prevent escalation.

The statement added that the UAE has safeguarded its sovereignty and national security while supporting international efforts to uphold stability and protect global trade routes.

The UAE also called for full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), adopted on March 11, which it said condemned the attacks and demanded their immediate cessation.

The ministry expressed hope that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace and stability across the region.
