BRISTOL, Jul 10 (Alliance News): England produced another dominant performance to defeat India by nine wickets in the third Twenty20 International at Bristol on Thursday, securing an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Chasing a target of 159, England reached 159-1 with more than six overs to spare, thanks to an explosive unbeaten partnership between captain Harry Brook and Phil Salt.
Brook starred with an unbeaten 79 off 35 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes, while Salt remained unbeaten on 59 after striking nine fours and a six.
Earlier, India managed 158-7 in their allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 15 runs before being dismissed by Jofra Archer, while captain Shreyas Iyer fought back with an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls. However, he received little support from the other batters.
England’s pace attack once again impressed, with Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue claiming two wickets each to restrict the visitors.
The victory came just two days after England handed India their heaviest-ever T20 defeat by runs with a 125-run win at Trent Bridge.
The result also marked India’s fifth consecutive T20 defeat, following a 2-0 series loss to Ireland earlier this year.
With the series already decided, the fourth match will be played in Southampton on Saturday.
