Sinner beats Djokovic to set up Wimbledon final against Zverev

ISLAMABAD, July 11 (Alliance News): Defending champion Jannik Sinner produced a dominant performance to defeat Novak Djokovic in straight sets and book his place in the Wimbledon men’s singles final against Alexander Zverev.

The Italian top seed defeated the 39-year-old Serbian 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in Friday’s semi-final, ending Djokovic’s latest bid to claim a record 25th Grand Slam title. Sinner’s powerful serving and aggressive baseline play gave the seven-time Wimbledon champion few opportunities to fight back.

Following the match, Djokovic acknowledged his opponent’s superiority, saying Sinner was “a level or more better” and played “at cruising speed.”

Sinner will now aim to win his fifth Grand Slam title when he faces Germany’s Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final. Earlier, Zverev secured his place in the championship match with a straight-sets victory over British wildcard Arthur Fery, winning 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4.

The Wimbledon final will see Sinner looking to successfully defend his title, while Zverev hopes to capture his second Grand Slam crown after winning the French Open last month.
