BEIJING, Jun 20 (Alliance News): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held separate phone calls with his Egyptian and Omani counterparts on Thursday, emphasizing the urgent need for dialogue and multilateral cooperation amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty described the regional situation as “dangerous,” condemning Israel’s recent military strikes on Iran as a blatant violation of international law.
He stressed that the Iranian nuclear issue must return to the path of political and diplomatic settlement. Wang Yi strongly echoed the sentiment, blaming Israel’s disregard for international law for the sudden spike in regional tensions.
Wang praised Egypt’s leadership in coordinating a joint statement from 20 Arab and Islamic foreign ministers condemning the Israeli attacks. “China fully supports this effort,” he said, calling for greater unity among regional nations to build consensus and pursue coordinated action.
China reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Egypt to promote dialogue through multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, and to contribute to peace-building efforts in the Middle East.
In a separate call, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation and appreciated China’s consistent role in supporting justice and peace on the international stage. He emphasized Oman’s hope that China will play an even larger role in restoring stability in the region.
Wang Yi assured Oman of China’s commitment to constructive diplomacy. “We oppose the use of force and encourage dialogue,” he said, reiterating that China will continue to work with Oman and other Islamic countries to foster peace through coordinated diplomatic channels.
