Dangerous Cargo Ship Sinks Near Kerala Coast, Environmental Crisis Looms

Kerala, May 28 (Alliance News): A cargo ship carrying 640 containers sank in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Kerala, including 13 containers filled with highly toxic chemicals.

The incident has raised serious environmental concerns as hazardous substances began leaking into the sea, threatening marine life and the health of local communities.

The ship was also carrying 84 tonnes of diesel and 367 tonnes of furnace oil, which are now spreading uncontrollably in the Arabian Sea.

Environmental experts have condemned the Indian government and navy for what they describe as gross negligence and a lack of preparedness in managing the crisis.

Critics have called the incident a criminal act of negligence, pointing out the absence of an effective rescue or containment plan by the authorities.

The toxic spill poses significant risks to aquatic ecosystems and the people of Kerala, who face severe health and safety threats.

The Indian government and navy have remained largely silent on the matter, intensifying public concern over the handling of the disaster.
