Saudi Arabia Launches AI Company ‘HUMAIN’ Ahead of Trump Visit

RIYADH, May 13 (Alliance News): Saudi Arabia has launched a new artificial intelligence company named HUMAIN, just hours before US President Donald Trump’s scheduled arrival in Riyadh, highlighting the kingdom’s ambition to become a global AI leader.

The new company, announced by the kingdom’s powerful Public Investment Fund (PIF), is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s broader economic reform strategy under Vision 2030.

PIF said in a statement that HUMAIN will “operate and invest across the artificial intelligence (AI) value chain” to drive innovation and diversification in the Saudi economy.

The timing of the launch coincides with Trump’s Gulf tour, during which artificial intelligence is expected to be a key topic at a joint Saudi-US investment forum in the capital.

According to PIF, HUMAIN will provide a wide range of AI services, products, and tools, including “one of the world’s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models (LLMs),” designed to enhance Arabic-language AI capabilities.

Saudi Arabia has set its sights on becoming a major AI hub amid intensifying global competition, particularly from the United States and China. The launch of HUMAIN reflects the kingdom’s push to lead in the rapidly growing sector while preparing its economy for a post-oil future.

AI is central to several high-profile Saudi initiatives, including the $500 billion futuristic city NEOM, the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and the development of a massive new airport in Riyadh.
