LOS ANGELES, March 2 (Alliance News): Adam Sandler made a surprise appearance at the 97th Academy Awards during Conan O’Brien’s opening monologue, engaging in a playful exchange that had the audience in stitches.
Keeping up with his signature casual style, the 58-year-old actor arrived at the Oscars in a bright blue hooded sweatshirt and navy basketball shorts, prompting O’Brien to quip that Sandler looked like “a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m.”
From his seat at the Dolby Theatre, Sandler shot back, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up!” He defended his laid-back outfit, adding, “What I wear or don’t wear doesn’t matter to me. Did you feel the need to make fun of me in front of my peers because I was wearing cute gym shorts and a fluffy sweatshirt?”
Although O’Brien offered an apology, Sandler decided to leave the auditorium in a comedic exit, sending the audience into fits of laughter.
Before heading out, he invited attendees to a post-ceremony basketball game and shared a playful moment with Timothée Chalamet, hugging him and planting a lighthearted kiss on his head.
