Henderson hospitalized after celebrations following England’s win

MEXICO CITY, July 6 (Alliance News): England midfielder Jordan Henderson was taken to hospital after suffering an arm injury during post-match celebrations following the Three Lions’ dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Sunday.

The incident occurred after the final whistle as England’s players celebrated with supporters, singing Oasis’ iconic anthem “Wonderwall.” Henderson reportedly stumbled near the advertising boards, landing awkwardly on his left arm before collapsing to the ground.

Television footage showed the 36-year-old leaving the pitch on a stretcher while clutching his left wrist. Defender Dan Burn immediately called for medical assistance as concern spread among teammates and fans.

England captain Harry Kane initially downplayed the injury after the match.

“Hendo just fell over there. I think he’s OK, just something to do with his arm,” Kane told reporters.

However, England head coach Thomas Tuchel painted a more worrying picture.

“He just fell over and injured his wrist. It looks really bad,” Tuchel said, raising concerns over Henderson’s availability for the remainder of the tournament.

Despite being included in England’s World Cup squad, Henderson has featured only once in the competition, making a seven-minute substitute appearance during the group-stage victory over Panama. He was an unused substitute in Sunday’s Round of 16 triumph over Mexico.

England will now turn their attention to a quarterfinal clash against Norway in Miami on July 11, with Henderson’s fitness set to be closely monitored ahead of the encounter.
