Israel Threatens Iran’s Supreme Leader with Saddam’s Fate Amid Escalating Conflict

TEL AVIV, Jun 17 (Alliance News): Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stern warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, drawing parallels to the fate of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein if Iran continues its missile attacks and alleged war crimes against Israel.

Speaking during a high-level security briefing with senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials, Katz said, “I warn the Iranian dictator to stop his war crimes by firing missiles at Israeli citizens.

If he follows this path, he will end up like the dictator of the neighboring country who took the same approach against Israel,” referencing Saddam Hussein’s downfall, capture, and execution following the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Israeli media reported that Katz confirmed Israeli forces struck the Tehran headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, a day prior. He hinted that more civilian institutions under the Iranian government could be designated as military targets in Israel’s ongoing retaliatory campaign.

“We will continue to target government and military targets in Tehran today,” Katz stated, escalating the rhetoric of direct strikes on Iranian soil.

In a sharp message to Iranian civilians, the defense minister warned residents of Tehran to evacuate areas that may be linked to government or military operations. “I ask the citizens of Tehran to leave the areas where Iranian state institutions are operating,” he cautioned.

The statement comes amid rising tensions and tit-for-tat attacks between Israel and Iran following weeks of cross-border strikes and regional instability.
