Putin Supports Ceasefire in Ukraine, But Key Issues Remain Unresolved

MOSCOW, April 8 (Alliance News): Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed support for a ceasefire in Ukraine, but the Kremlin says several critical issues must be addressed before any agreement can be reached.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made the remarks on Monday, acknowledging Putin’s openness to the idea of a ceasefire but emphasizing that there are unresolved matters that need clarification. “Putin supports the idea of a ceasefire, but several issues need to be clarified first,” Peskov said.

The statement comes as the war in Ukraine enters its third year, with diplomatic efforts led by the United States and involving Moscow and Kyiv continuing. US President Donald Trump, who has been advocating for an immediate ceasefire since taking office, has yet to see any significant breakthrough in the ongoing conflict.

The international community remains hopeful that a resolution to the war can be found, but challenges remain as key points of contention between the involved parties have not been fully addressed.
