Tel Aviv, Aug 8 (Alliance News): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that weapons supplied by Israel were used by India during “Operation Sindoor,” the cross-border assault in which New Delhi struck Pakistani positions under the pretext of targeting “terrorists.”
The four-day confrontation followed India’s unsubstantiated claim that Pakistan was behind a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The conflict saw artillery duels, drone strikes, and air raids exchanged between the two nuclear-armed rivals.
In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” striking multiple Indian military sites.
According to Pakistani officials, six Indian fighter jets — including three Rafales — and dozens of drones were downed. The hostilities ended on May 10 after a US-brokered ceasefire.
Posting on X after meeting Indian Ambassador JP Singh, Netanyahu praised Israeli-supplied systems, including the Barak-8 missile defence system and HARPY drones, for their performance during the operation.
Indian media said the Barak-8 system, jointly developed with Israel, and the HARPY drone — designed to destroy radar systems — were used to counter Pakistani missile strikes. India also deployed Russian-made S-400s and domestic weapons.
Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai, Kobbi Shoshani, described Operation Sindoor as “self-defence” and voiced pride in India’s actions.
Israel remains one of India’s largest arms suppliers, delivering more than $2.9 billion worth of defence hardware over the past decade, including radars, drones, and missile systems. Weapons deliveries to India have continued despite Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.
