GAZA, May 14 (Alliance News): At least 28 Palestinians were killed and over 70 injured as Israeli forces launched a heavy airstrike on the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, targeting an area near the European Hospital, according to Arab media reports.

Witnesses and local sources said the Israeli military dropped nine bunker buster bombs on the hospital compound, causing the ground beneath the facility to collapse.

A parked passenger bus was swallowed into the crater created by the impact.

Israel claims the strike targeted a Hamas command and control center allegedly located beneath the hospital.

The intended target was said to be Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of senior Hamas figure Yahya Sinwar. However, the presence of civilians and the hospital’s role as a refuge for the wounded have sparked international outrage.

Palestinian sources stated that Israeli forces also bombed vehicles carrying the injured to the hospital, further increasing the casualty count. The explosions triggered widespread panic, with patients and medical staff fleeing for safety amid ongoing chaos.

US President Donald Trump, currently visiting Saudi Arabia on a regional diplomatic tour, condemned the ongoing violence.

“The people of Gaza deserve a better future. This nightmare must end,” Trump said in a press briefing. “I am working to end this war. Terrorism is causing instability, and peace must prevail.”

The assault on a medical facility has drawn concern from humanitarian organizations and global observers, many of whom are calling for immediate de-escalation and protection of civilians and healthcare institutions in conflict zones.
