UNITED NATIONS, April 11 (Alliance News): China’s envoy to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syrian territory during an emergency UN Security Council meeting, urging Israel to immediately halt its attacks and withdraw from Syria.
Speaking on Friday, Geng said the Israeli strikes had “seriously violated international law and Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.” He stressed that all nations must respect the 1974 agreement on the disengagement of forces and avoid escalating regional tensions.
In his remarks, the Chinese envoy also called on the Syrian interim administration to conduct a transparent and accountable investigation into recent violent incidents in Syria’s coastal regions. He emphasized the importance of allowing international monitoring of the inquiry to ensure credibility.
Furthermore, Geng urged Syrian authorities to take firm action against terrorist organizations designated by the Security Council, including the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), while fulfilling their responsibilities in combating terrorism.
China reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for a peaceful resolution through political dialogue and compliance with international law.
