SHARJAH, Aug 8 (Alliance News): Sharjah is preparing to host the first-ever Badminton World Cup, set for 11–14 December 2025 in Khorfakkan, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The Badminton World Federation confirmed the championship will also be the sport’s first outdoor edition, organised by the UAE Badminton Federation in collaboration with the Sharjah Sports Council.
At the inaugural organising committee meeting, chaired by Abdulmalik Mohammed Jani, officials discussed event logistics, referee training workshops, and promotional activities to boost public engagement.
Vice Chairman Noura Hassan Al Jasmi and other committee heads also reviewed plans to nurture local talent.
Khorfakkan Beach has been selected as the venue, with a press conference scheduled after the European and Asian Championships.
