Cambodia, Thailand Call Off Border Clashes After Talks

Phnom Penh, Aug 8 (Alliance News):Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to halt fighting along their shared border after signing a ceasefire deal at a special meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Border General Committee.

The agreement follows deadly clashes that erupted on July 24, with both sides trading accusations of violating international law.

Under the mediation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the two nations met on July 28 and agreed to an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire starting from midnight the same day.

The ceasefire was formalized this week, with officials from both countries putting their signatures on the agreement.

The deal aims to prevent further escalation and restore stability in the disputed border areas.
