ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (Alliance News): The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to an Islamabad hospital and directed authorities to facilitate meetings with his sister Dr Uzma Khan and personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan. The order came during the hearing of petitions seeking access to Imran’s family and doctors.
The court also sought his complete medical record and details of meetings with his sisters and children over the past three years.
Justice Shahid Waheed observed that medical reports raised concerns about Imran’s health and stressed that preventing family meetings was not a favour but a fundamental right.
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan said no politics should be played over Imran’s health and urged all sides to focus on his well-being. Lawyer Uzair Bhandari assured the court that Dr Uzma Khan and Imran’s personal doctor would not speak to the media after meeting him.
The court also questioned authorities over the need for an angiography and was informed that the procedure could be performed at an outside hospital.
Before the hearing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said PTI hoped for relief through the courts and would seek Imran’s release through legal means.
